Youth and Kids Ministry

Wednesdays:  6:00-7:00 pm      Sundays:  9:45-10:45 am  &  6:00-7:00 pm

The Youth and Kids Ministry of SBC exists to bring the truth, grace, and changing power of the Gospel to the youth and families of the Abilene area. To that end, we strive to:

– Build meaningful and lasting relationships with youth and their families.

– Create a Christ centered community that is based on loving God and loving each other.

– Teach students the truth of the Gospel through the study and discussion of scripture.

– Disciple students to live out their faith in Jesus.

Our Youth and Kids Ministry is focused on providing a fun and safe environment where kids and teens can learn the powerful truths of the Gospel. We also hold various camps, events, and mission trips throughout the year that are geared toward teaching students to live out their faith and share the Gospel with others.

Partners in Prayer Ministry

We meet in the Fellowship Hall every Tuesday at 12:00 pm.

Prayer is an essential part of what we do. We believe that God calls us to pray for one another and for every other part of life. Each time we meet together we eat, fellowship, and pray that God would move in mighty and spectacular ways. We know that prayer works and we are committed to it.

James 5:13-16

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Jail / Prison Ministry

We strive to reach all of God’s children, wherever they may be. Our jail ministry caters to the lost and broken, those who have found God after terrible difficulty, and those who have sought a better way and finally found it. We are here to serve and long to help those that need it. Let us know if a loved one needs ministry and we will be there.

Matthew 25:36-40

36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Nursing Home Ministry

We love to serve and believe that the changing power of the Gospel does not have an age limit. One act of service that we do is bring church to those that don’t have the ability to attend. Every week we visit a nursing home and spend time with those that live there. This involves singing, studying the scriptures, and visiting with people.

Psalm 71:9

9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent.
